The compromise to not develop Morris Island with tourist facilities seems to be to build a visitor center and parking lot on the north end of Folly. Read my post and the Post and Courier story about it a month ago, and how the planners say this will somehow help the birds that nest on the beach and keep the ATVs off of it (only the cops ride ATVs there).
The P&C released the plan for the facilities today. Read the story and check out the blueprint. I personally enjoy the walk down the old, pot-holed road, without any cars running me over.
