Gawd how I wish Inez Tenenbaum had won in 2006…
Sen. Jim DeMint was one of 16 Republican senators yesterday to vote against the economic stimulus package that would give all of us making under $75K a $600 check in the mail. He’d rather give corporations a break from 35 to 25 percent on their income tax. Fortunately the package passed.
Here’s some quotes from the Business Journal…
“We’re borrowing billions from our children and grandchildren so we give political handouts that won’t help the economy,” DeMint said in a prepared statement. “I’m sure everyone would like a few extra dollars in their pocket, but the best way to do that is to pass permanent tax relief for all American taxpayers and to stop wasteful spending in Washington.”
The companies benefiting most from such a corporate break are the ones boasting record profits every quarter of this so-called recession! DeMint’s a crony.
